# Can Parera

Can Parera de Canyes is a farmhouse in the Montseny Natural Park, 3 km from Sant Pere de Vilamajor, occupied by a co-operative since 2021. The community currently has 13 adults and 7 kids. The communal living proposal features varied intimate living units not based on the nuclear family, plus shared spaces for everyone. The house, food, care and child-rearing are shared across the whole community.

The property has about 2 hectares of land and 900 m² of farm buildings. Can Parera’s proposal is to hand these resources over to projects rooted in the territory and working for social change. For now they plan to have a production workshop, a training school for social transformation, a vegetable garden and grain production, though most are still under construction. These projects will be governed by an assembly separate from the residents’ assembly.

The project comes from people connected to Can Tonal and has 4 aims:

- Free the historic property from the market.
- Create spaces for living together that strengthen the community and its members.
- Be infrastructure for projects rooted in the territory.
- Be an agent of social transformation.
