# Chronicle of the 4 May gathering

Last Saturday 4 May we held Emprius’s [second annual gathering](https://emprius.cat/en/trobada-2024/). This year we met in **Sant Antoni de Vilamajor**, in the Vallès Oriental.

In the morning, we took part in a [**collective working day**](https://cantonal.net/jornada-maig-2024/) organised at **Can Tonal de Vallbona**, a community project that some of Emprius’s founders are part of. More than 70 of us split into different groups, working on vegetable gardens and fruit trees, doing ecological building work, finishing a mosaic mural of tiles, setting up new material in the Social Space, cooking… The atmosphere was wonderful and we got a lot done.

Before lunch – a delicious paella made with local produce – there was a **presentation and talk about Can Tonal**, for those of us who would gather in the afternoon to discuss Emprius.

In the afternoon some 40 of us met at a municipal space in Sant Antoni de Vilamajor. Upstairs there was a space for children, facilitated by two young people from the village. We provided snacks and gave a small gift to the members who attended.

Members of Emprius’s core group presented the **Activity Report** for work done in 2023 and the **Action Plan** we have set for 2024.

Focusing on one of the challenges we face as a Foundation, we closed the event with a **reflection workshop on our relationship with private property** and the difficulties of accessing rural land through deals below market price.

We had **Dirk Madriles** with us, founder of [**Terra Franca**](https://associaciolera.org/terra-franca-es-dissol/), an association that worked selflessly to promote land access for agroecological farming projects. He shared the work they had been doing and the difficulties they encountered during the association’s 10 years of life (2013–2023).

Both the presentation part and the workshop had **very active participation** from those present, with very interesting contributions. People came from different parts of the region, members and non-members alike, interested in the work we want to do at Fundació Emprius.
