# Iltiŕ, a festival of democratic evolution in rural areas

Iltiŕ is the new meeting point for rural governance: dialogues, workshops, webinars and networking to nurture and open democracy in our villages and communities. It takes place in two phases: from 27 to 29 June there will be international webinars online, and on 7–8 July the Iltiŕ Festival will be held in Argelaguer, la Garrotxa, where Emprius will be present.

Specifically, we’ll be taking part in the round table “The communalising impulse in land stewardship” on Saturday 8 July at 12.30pm, where we’ll explore traditional forms of communal management and talk about “the commons of the 21st century”, with Joel Baró, mayor of Vall de Cardós, Isabel Salamanya from UdG and Marc August Muntanya, historian and shepherd from la Garrotxa. Moderated by Gerard Costa of Anigami.

Iltiŕ is an Iberian word referring to the community that inhabits a territory. This festival is an invitation to reconnect with our roots, decolonise ourselves to steward our territories and take shared responsibility for them, so we can respond to today’s challenges from the squares and streets of our villages, with plural and diverse dialogues. We need to evolve democracy and fill the houses of our towns with POLITICS in capital letters — will you join us?
