[Video] Round table in Manresa: Managing communal natural resources

On 9 November, Ariadna Tremoleda, a member of Emprius and Mas Les Vinyes, took part in a round table discussion in Manresa about “Managing communal natural resources”.

Also taking part in the discussion were Xosé Antón Araúxo, from the Comunidade de Montes de Couso, and Joan Arévalo, from the Comunitat Minera Olesana.

The event took place as part of the II Congress of Community Economies organised by the Comunalitat de Manresa.

Both experiences – the one from Galicia and the one from Olesa – strike us as very interesting and inspiring.

In Galicia there are currently over 700,000 hectares – a quarter of the region’s surface area – legally recognised as “montes veciñais en man común”, woodlands held in common by local residents. This model of management and living experience shows the strength and viability of communal resource management. We recommend watching, for example, the documentary “En todas as mans”.
