Premiere of the documentary “Fem cumó, un altre camí” (and the Emprius Prize 2025 award ceremony)

On Saturday 8 November we’re co-organising an event with Usnea RP that we’re really excited about. It will be held in Tremp, at the Ateneu del Pallars (opens in a new tab) (rambla Dr. Pearson, 7). The event will start at 6pm.

We’ll be screening the premiere of the documentary “Fem cumó, un altre camí” (“Doing cumó: another way”), made by Usnea RP and AÜC Transformació Audiovisual and directed by David Andreu i Solà, in collaboration with the Sapeira Neighbours’ Association. The film is the result of work carried out following the proposal that won the Emprius Prize 2024, presented by Usnea. We’ll also present the whole action-research project they’ve undertaken.

After the screening, there will be a workshop and discussion about the future of communal lands in Pallars, with invited organisations from the area.

We’ll also announce and briefly present the winning proposal of the Emprius Prize 2025.

Afterwards, there will be a bar serving supper at affordable prices.

Hope to see you there! Will you help us spread the word?

The week before, on 1 November, there will be a preview screening of the film in Sapeira, at El Cau - Casa Nova, a space run by the Neighbours’ Association.

Film synopsis:

In a corner of the Pre-Pyrenees, the village of Sapeira and the Terreta valley hold the traces of a communal past of great value. “Fem cumó, un altre camí” follows the participatory process driven by the collective Usnea RP, together with the people of the village, to recover this living memory: interviews, cumó work days and communal work sessions and workshops become spaces of dialogue where stories from grandparents meet new collective imaginaries. Another way also means doing it again: walking together once more, doing cumó as before but with fresh eyes. The film immerses us in the beauty and fragility of a rural world that was dismantled socially and culturally years ago, while opening up questions about the future of the commons and the potential of grassroots structures as an act of justice and social transformation. Communal lands have been the foundation of collective life for over a millennium. Today we are living through an unprecedented time, in which this way of being in the world has been relegated; perhaps it is a symptom of crisis, but also the starting point for a new beginning.
