La Tomassa is a community living project that puts care for relationships at its centre and aims to create a way of life that is coherent and fair to the territory.
Currently it comprises 7 adults and 5 children and is located in the municipality of Campins, in the foothills of the Montseny. It is a 3-hectare property with forest and cropland, and a main farmhouse that houses communal spaces and housing, as well as other outbuildings, some in use and some awaiting restoration.

The project was born in 2021, driven by people from different community living projects and activism linked to social transformation, food sovereignty and self-sufficiency.
To this end, since its beginnings the project has focused on rehabilitating the farmhouse using passive-house principles, natural and recycled materials for improvements, and moving towards self-managed energy. There is also an emphasis on regenerative land management, with projects in preparation for water treatment, productive plots for fruit and vegetables, and sustainable forest management.
We are an assembly-based community, organised into 4 working groups: land, infrastructure, group management and economy. We have non-mixed spaces for sharing with a gender perspective, and gatherings to share questions around raising children.
Links with our surroundings are at the heart of the project. For this reason, among other things, we organise the community lunches of Baix Montseny, work to strengthen informal relations with our neighbours and participate in the core group of the Gathering of Communities of Catalonia. La Tomassa aspires to create a social space that hosts activities, training and gatherings for the eco-social transition.
