5 October in Lleida: We defend the land, we want living villages!

Fundació Emprius has endorsed the manifesto of the call for the big demonstration being organised. You’ll find all the information on the poblesvius.cat website.
“We’ve penned our livestock in sheds and believed that a few (and large) operations in each locality could manage an entire territory. We’ve swapped farming for civil-service jobs, hands for machines, villages for megacities, local trades and shops for superstores. Now we’re victims of uncontrollable fires and pests that are hard to manage — with one root cause: the lack of daily presence on the land.”
We urge all the people of Ponent and the rural regions to attend and take part.
As the manifesto says, “the time has come to protect all the values and strengths still alive in our regions. It is also time to find new principles and new origins for rural life”: ruralism; nature and culture; recovery of diverse small-scale farming; health and quality of life; political and economic subsidiarity; territorial rebalancing; energy, only what’s needed; co-operation and community; degrowth.
