Revoltes de la Terra launched

On the first anniversary of the farmers’ mobilisations, which gained strong momentum from 6 February last year, “Revoltes de la Terra” is launched today – a collective formed by dozens of organisations in defence of the land, built on the three “gatherings of land-defence struggles of the Catalan Countries” held between last June and this January.

They present their Manifesto on the website revoltesdelaterra.cat, and today Directa also publishes an article on the topic.

At the Gathering of the Emprius community and interested people this Sunday 16th at Calafou (Anoia), we will have people from Revoltes de la Terra and Revolta Pagesa – a farmers’ guild formed after the mobilisations a year ago. They will take part in the afternoon session on strategies of struggle and resistance in rural settings. We close registration this Wednesday for the gathering, if you want to stay for lunch!

Today Revolta Pagesa had called road blockades, which they called off after signing an agreement signed with the Catalan agriculture ministry. However, they kept the call for Revolta Pagesa assemblies scheduled for today. Revolta Pagesa has spent days turning municipal signs upside down as an act of protest and to make the sector’s discontent visible.

“Taking action is a collective responsibility”
“From the fight against tourism in Mallorca to the wind farms of Castelló, via the MAT power line in Girona and the Pyrenees that stopped the Olympic Games, or the golf courses of the Marina Alta. We fight in Ponent against mega-farms, in the Camp de Tarragona against energy extractivism and the sentence of becoming a sacrifice zone. Diverse territories that share a history, a tradition of struggle and a language. We do this here knowing we are part of it and standing in solidarity with struggles everywhere.”
