Solidarity with those affected by the DANA

Faced with the tragedy of the damage caused by the DANA in the Valencian Country, many solidarity and grassroots initiatives are being organised, both to pitch in with work and to raise money.
On the work side, much of the grassroots solidarity is being channelled through the Network of Community Centres and Ateneus of the Catalan Countries, which has set up the website organitzemlaresposta.cat.
On the fundraising side, various initiatives have been launched. From Emprius, we’ve done our bit through two of them: “Community fund for the DANA: a collective response for the Valencian Country” and “Cultivating solidarity”.
The first, driven by the social and solidarity economy sector (XES, XEAS PV, REAS and other organisations).
“In response to the crisis caused by the DANA in the Valencian Country, the Social and Solidarity Economy mobilises. Sharing concerns and hopes with society, various co-operative, grassroots and community initiatives have organised themselves to face the emergency. These collectives have redirected their usual activities towards collecting essential materials such as cleaning products and food.”
The second, driven by organisations in the agroecology sector (CERAI, Per l’Horta, Justicia Alimentaria, Fundació Assut…).
“The DANA has severely damaged the fields of family farmers, with losses of machinery and harvests that will make it hard for them to recover without help after such a heavy blow. In many cases they have no insurance cover for their fields and have limited means of production.”
We encourage everyone to contribute in whatever way they can, as much as they can.
Only the people can save the people!
