Campaign: Let’s collectivise Cal Cisteller!

We’re supporting the solidarity fundraising campaign to free the Font-rubí farmhouse from the speculative market and drive the creation of an Ateneu Rural (community centre) in the Penedès.

After nine years building networks of rural mutual aid from Cal Cisteller, the owner put the farm up for sale. Now a collective of people and local farmsteads has decided to collectivise the farmhouse and turn it into a place for gatherings, learning and community life — to strengthen farming and rural culture. They’re laying the groundwork for an Ateneu that will foster rural rootedness and collaborative projects in solidarity economy, agroecology, healthcare and shared resources and care.

The goal is to free the farm from the property market and dedicate it to the common good, so we can keep building and supporting community projects together. They’ve formed a consumer and user co-operative to handle the purchase and meet the project’s legal and economic needs.
